invites the candidates to undertake
Doctoral studies at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science last 4 years and start on 1st October each year.
A graduate of the doctoral studies is awarded a PhD degree in mathematics or computer science – depending on the chosen field of studies. Both full-time doctoral studies and extramural doctoral studies are available. Applicants are required to have a Master's degree in mathematics, computer science or other related discipline. The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science follows fixed admissions standards – see the admissions policy enacted by the Senate of Adam Mickiewicz University. Applicants are expected to have a very good field knowledge of the chosen specialization and a good higher education general knowledge.
Full-time studies applicants can also apply for a doctoral scholarship. Admitted students may be accommodated in a hall of residence (for young researchers).
The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science is a good place to start one’s academic research and undertake doctoral studies in mathematics or computer science. The Faculty is one of the biggest Polish research units in mathematics and computer science. It employs forty four independent research fellows. Currently there are about forty PhD students at the Faculty. The State Committee for Scientific Research ranked the scientific research conducted at the Faculty as cutting-edge and included it in the highest scientific category among research groups. The Faculty is one of the few units in Poland authorized to confer the degree of doktor habilitowany (habilitated PhD degree) in mathematics and in computer science.
We invite all candidates, regardless of the institution in which they awarded their MSc degree, to undertake the doctoral studies at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.
The best PhD students at the Faculty receive the scholarships of around 2500PLN starting already from the first year of their studies.
